Well, it took only five days to go from "hey, I want a new bike" to "hey, I got a new bike". Apparently my Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is running full steam.
Susan and I headed to the Trek McDonough bike shop in February to see what we could find on the sale racks. There's no harm in getting last season's apparel at a discount. Sadly, for size purposes, I wasn't a small child aged 9 to 13 or a 220 lb male either. Susan found a few things but there was only a yellow safety vest for me. It was a bit big too but, what the heck, I bought it.
As Susan was checking out the jackets I mosied on over to the bike racks. What harm could it be to just take a look? I spied a red and black Trek Madone 5.2 that just happened to be my size. It looked very nice and reminded me of my first real bike, an all aluminum red 1989 Trek 1500. Brian, the salesman, was kind enough to get Trey, the mechanic, to put some pedals on it for me. I took it for a spin around the parking lot. That's all she wrote! I (we) decided I (we) should take it home with me (us), so I (we) did. Susan probably remembered the work I had done on her wheelbarrow and felt the need to reciprocate. How could I argue?
I've had my new bike for about a month now. I haven't ridden my Quintana Roo CD0.1 in as long. That will have to change with the Peachtree International Triathlon less than seven weeks away. With my Flashpoint FP60 aero wheels, Fuelbelt bento box, red Bontrager bottle cages, minimalist Cateye RD300W wireless computer, Topeak seat mounted tool bag, and tail light installed, I must say, it looks pretty awesome. I also purchased and mounted the integrated sensor but haven't bought the computer to use with it yet.
So, without any further ado, here are a few pictures.
