Eleven Down - Nine Weeks to Go!

Week number eleven started on Sunday, August 28th with the Wilson 100 century ride.  It was the perfect opportunity to add some serious miles to my log.  It was a great ride on a great course.  Kudos to the Southern Bicycle League folks for organizing this annual event.  I finished the ride in just 5 hours.

On Monday I rode my bike again.  I put in another 37.5 miles.  Partly with the Southern Crescent Cycling club riders and the rest solo to and from the meet up point at Epic Bikes.  It was supposed to be a recovery ride for those of us that had done the Wilson 100 but it didn't feel like one.  There must have been too much testosterone on the road.

On Tuesday I planned to run or swim or something after work.  I didn't do either.  I guess Tuesday is my official recovery day for the week.  Check!

On Wednesday I ran 11 miles at a moderate pace.  It's been so hot lately that I reduced my running to prevent a recurrence of the bladder issues I had last year.  Gotta stay hydrated!

That ends my training for August.  My total numbers for the month were as follows.  I swam 10.4 miles in 6 hours and 28 minutes, rode 621 miles in 36 hours and 57 minutes, and ran 54 miles in 7 hours and 20 minutes.  That beats my July numbers by 12 hours.  They were swim - 11.45 miles in 7:51, bike - 341 miles in 18:59, and run - 83.25 miles in 11:31.  July's total was 38 hours and 22 minutes of training.  The total for August was 50 hours and 46 minutes.  That's an increase of 12 hours and 24 minutes.

On Thursday I swam 1.9 miles in 1 hour and 10 minutes.  I could tell that the lake water is getting cooler.

On Friday morning Chip, Richard and I met at the Silver Comet Trail for an 80 mile ride.  We picked up a forth rider, Sean.  I had a slight altercation with a pine tree but we still finished our ride averaging 19.0 miles per hour.

On Saturday I didn't do jack!  I wanted to run, but the poison ivy on all four of my extremities took all my attention.  It's difficult to scratch your ankles and run at the same time.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.

My totals for the week were pretty good.  I swam 1.9 miles, biked 218 miles, and ran 11 miles.  I did it all in 13 hours and 38 minutes.  I increased my cycling time and reduced the other two disciplines.  Hopefully the month of September will be cooler and I can run more.

That's about it.
